I recently had the pleasure of being a guest on the Kinky Hair Kulture podcast, hosted by the brilliant Candice, the creator behind the mic. It was a powerful experience where we dove deep into all things related to textured hair. From laughter to moments of clarity, we touched on the Black beauty industry and the many layers that come with it.
One of the standout moments during the podcast was tackling some tough questions. Candice asked how I handle encounters with older professionals who may resist learning about textured hair care. It’s a challenge I’ve faced throughout my career, but I answered from my personal experience, discussing the importance of patience, persistence, and leading by example.
We also explored my feelings about teaching non-melanin students how to work with textured hair. As someone who believes in education, inclusion, and proper representation in cosmetology, I explained that sharing textured hair care knowledge

with anyone willing to learn is essential to creating a more inclusive beauty industry.
The conversation flowed naturally, and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my insights and experiences with Candice. Being able to educate and connect with others who are passionate about textured hair was incredibly rewarding. I look forward to more opportunities to grow, learn, and continue these conversations within the textured hair community.
If you haven’t listened to the Kinky Hair Kulture podcast yet, I highly recommend checking it out!
